Taylor’s Vintage 2018 – Powerful vintage port from Douro

Taylor’s Vintage 2018 is a classic and age-worthy Vintage Port from one of the Douro Valley’s most iconic houses. A powerful, structured and deeply concentrated Vintage Port made for the cellar – and for the big moments.

The grapes come from Taylor’s own top vineyards in the Douro: Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita and Quinta do Junco. All fields are classified in Group A – the highest quality classification in the region. The different microclimates of the three vineyards contribute to the complexity, structure and balance of the wine.

Vintage 2018 is made from traditional Portuguese grapes and aged for approximately 2 years in oak barrels before being bottled for further development. The result is a port with distinctive fruit, firm tannic structure and impressive ageing potential.

Tasting notes

Color: Beautiful, deep purple – almost black – with a slight purple-red tinge.

Aroma: Intense and elegant aromas of forest berries, blackberries and blackcurrants. Subtle notes of cherry and mocha add depth.

Taste: Rich and complex with juicy, crisp berry fruit. Tannins and fresh acidity create structure and show great ageing potential. Plenty of power, but still balanced and precise.

Aftertaste: Long, persistent and harmonious with great fruit intensity.

Storage and serving

Vintage Port can be enjoyed after 4-5 years, but reaches its optimal expression after 15-20 years of bottle age. Taylor’s Vintage 2018 has the structure to develop for decades.

Due to natural sediment, the bottle should be left upright for 48 hours before opening. Decant gently and allow the wine to oxygenate 2-3 hours before serving. Perfect with chocolate, desserts, strong cheeses or as an exclusive after-dinner glass.

The history of the house

Taylor’s – officially Taylor, Fladgate & Yeatman – has more than 300 years of history and remains family owned and independent. Headquartered in Vila Nova de Gaia, the wines are aged and exported worldwide.

With its own historic quinta in the Douro Valley and uncompromising quality philosophy, Taylor’s has created some of the world’s most respected Vintage Ports. Vintage 2018 continues this tradition with power, finesse and classic Taylor’s character.
