Velier SVM 11 year MMW Wedderburn is pure, uncompromising Jamaica rum in its most intense form. A 100% pot still Jamaica vatted single rum, bottled at full cask strength of 69.1% and aged tropically for 11 years under the Caribbean sun. This bottling is a unique collaboration between Velier and E&A Scheer and highlights a key issue in the world of spirits: the influence of climate on aging. For the first time, rum lovers can compare identical distillates aged in tropical Jamaica and continental Europe. The difference is striking – and this edition represents the tropically aged version, where heat, moisture and intense evaporation create depth, concentration and explosive character.

The blend consists of 2 casks of MMW from 2008 and 10 casks of MMW from 2007 – all aged exclusively in Jamaica. The ester content is a whopping 315.6 gr/hlpa, placing it firmly in the Wedderburn category and providing the characteristic aromatic intensity with fruit, funk and spicy depth.

The result is a rum with massive structure, concentrated fruit and a complexity that can only be achieved through tropical aging. This is a bottle for collectors, connoisseurs and those seeking true high-ester Jamaica rum in its purest form.

Tasting notes

Color: Deep amber with an intense glow.

Aroma: Powerful and aromatic with overripe pineapple, banana, mango and fermented tropical fruit. Notes of lacquer, spices, molasses and toasted oak.

Flavor: Extremely rich and concentrated. Explosive fruitiness combined with spicy oak, dried fruit, caramelized sugar and a distinctive, characteristic Jamaican “funk”.

Finish: Very long, warm and persistent with intense ester notes, spices and dark, dry oak.
