Woodward Canyon Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Washington State 2014 – Iconic Estate Cabernet from Walla Walla
Woodward Canyon Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is the epitome of serious, world-class American Cabernet. This exclusive Estate edition is made 100% from grapes grown in Woodward Canyon’s own vineyards on the western edge of Walla Walla in Washington State – an area surrounded by juniper, yellow pine and wormwood, where the terroir gives the wines intensity, structure and character.
Both old and younger vines are used, and all grapes are hand-harvested with an uncompromising focus on quality. The yield is microscopic – but the result is towering. The fields are certified sustainable and Salmon Safe, and the winery is in the process of converting to organic and biodynamic farming. This is wine with respect for nature and dedication to detail.
the 2014 vintage offers power, precision and impressive ageing potential. It is an Estate Cabernet with classic structure, deep fruit and beautifully integrated barrel – a wine that already impresses now, but will develop beautifully over the next many years.
Tasting notes
Color: Deep, dark red with an almost black core.
Aroma: Intense and complex with notes of sun-ripened blackcurrant, black cherry and blueberry, combined with cedar, graphite, tobacco and a hint of dark chocolate.
Flavor: Full-bodied and structured with concentrated dark fruit, firm but ripe tannins and nice acidity. Layers of spice, oak and mineral finesse add depth and elegance.
Finish: Long and persistent with classic Cabernet structure and great ageing potential.
Serving suggestions

The story behind the house
Woodward Canyon Winery was founded in 1981 and was only the second winery in Walla Walla. Back in 1976, Rick Small planted 41 hectares of vines on the family farm, which had previously grown only wheat. Today, the winery is still family-owned, with both Rick’s wife and children actively involved in the operation.
The family has been farming for four generations, and it shows in their approach: the work in the field is the foundation for the quality in the bottle. With a focus on sustainability, certifications and respect for nature, Woodward Canyon has built a reputation as one of Washington State’s most serious and age-worthy producers.
