Woodward Canyon Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Magnum – iconic Washington Cabernet from old vines

Woodward Canyon Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Magnum is a big wine – in both format and expression. This magnum edition (150 cl) takes the experience of one of Washington State’s most classic Cabernet Sauvignon wines to new heights. Produced since the house was founded in 1981 and based on vines planted in the early 1970s, this is true “old vines” character with depth, structure and aging potential.

The grapes come primarily from the legendary Champoux Vineyard and Sagemoor Vineyard, located nearly 180 miles apart on two different benches above the Columbia River. Both vineyards are among the oldest and most recognized in Washington State, delivering fruit with intensity, complexity and distinctive balance.

the 2018 vintage offers ideal growing conditions and delivers a Cabernet Sauvignon with concentrated dark fruit, great acidity and structured tannins. The magnum format offers slower maturation and even greater ageing potential – perfect for the cellar or for a big dinner where something special needs to be poured.

An ideal companion for hearty meat dishes, grilled beef, game and mature cheeses – or as a centerpiece for festive occasions.

The story behind Woodward Canyon

Founded in 1981, Woodward Canyon was among the pioneers of the Walla Walla Valley. The wine is dedicated to Mr. A.P. Woodward, who around 1860 settled on 400 acres in what was then Washington Territory. The area near the current farming community of Lowden came to bear his name – Woodward Canyon.

More than 150 years later, the canyon supports a hillside vineyard and winery that proudly bears his name. The combination of historic roots, old vines and uncompromising quality make Woodward Canyon an institution in Washington State.
