A quest for the very essence of rum
If rum has an absolute origin, it must be in the West Indies. Christopher Columbus discovered the islands on his second voyage in 1493. With him he brought sugarcane and found optimal conditions. The most suitable island for growing sugarcane was St. Croix. Due to its lush nature, ot was nicknamed "The Garden of the West Indies". It was from these sun-drenched islands that Albert Heinrich Riise sourced molasses from sugarcane when he started his rum-adventure in 1838. And in the following years, he made many journeys around the Carribean in his search for the highest quality ingredients. A never-ending quest for quality that still characterizes A. H. Riise Spirits to this day.

The Black Gem Collection

A.H. Riise Black Larimar
Black Gem Collection

A quest for the essence of rum
If rum has an original homeland, it must be the West Indies. It was here, in 1493, that Christopher Columbus introduced sugarcane and discovered the perfect growing conditions—especially on the lush island of St. Croix, known as “The Garden of the West Indies.” It was from this sun-drenched island that Albert Heinrich Riise began his rum journey in 1838. He explored the Caribbean in search of the finest raw materials—a relentless pursuit of quality that still defines A.H. Riise Spirits today.

This exclusive rum is a masterpiece of taste experiences:
Nose: A powerful aroma with notes of orange peel, followed by honeyed sweetness and soft vanilla.
Taste: Spicy orange peel, dark nuances with a lightly tingling spearmint, and old-fashioned vanilla drops, all embraced by subtle oak tones.
Finish: Age and oak intensify, while orange oil lingers on the palate, accompanied by discreet notes of leather.
Alcohol content: 45.2%
Number of bottles: Limited edition of 5,955 individually numbered bottles

Black Gem Collection – Rare Treasures from the West Indies
The Black Gem Collection is inspired by the rare black gemstones hidden deep beneath the soil of the West Indies—the place where the soul of rum was first awakened. Our master blender has followed in the footsteps of Albert Heinrich Riise to create an extraordinary series of luxurious blends, carefully selected from the finest casks.
Each barrel is meticulously chosen, evaluated, and blended to craft something truly exceptional. The result is a collection of exquisite, luxury blends, bottled in a limited number of exclusive black bottles. Unique blends that can never be recreated. The series consists of three outstanding variants: Black Spinel, Black Coral, and Black Larimar—each bottle a rare gem, individually numbered to emphasize its exclusivity.

Black Larimar – A Rare Gem in the World of Rum
Black Larimar is a unique gemstone found deep within the earth in the West Indies and Central America—the same fertile soil that nourishes the sugarcane used in our Black Gem Collection. Beyond its striking beauty, Black Larimar is believed to have calming properties that promote clear communication and understanding.
Experience an extraordinary rum where tradition, craftsmanship, and the soul of the West Indies merge into an unforgettable taste journey.

Hampden Estate – Pagos Batch 3
Pure Single Jamaican Rum – 52%

Exclusive Rum Experience with Pagos Batch 3
Welcome to a unique tasting experience from Hampden Estate – one of Jamaica’s most iconic distilleries. With an unparalleled combination of high-ester rum and sherry cask aging, Pagos Batch 3 sets new standards for complexity and depth. This exclusive rum is crafted using traditional methods that have been kept secret since the 18th century, resulting in a rich and aromatic profile. Fully Tropical Aging – A Rum with Character This rum is 100% tropically aged, meaning it develops faster and achieves a deeper flavor than rum aged in Europe. In the warm and humid Caribbean climate, evaporation – known as the "angel’s share" – is four times higher than in Europe, concentrating the flavors and providing an intense and full-bodied experience. Innovative Sherry Cask Aging Pagos Batch 3 marks the beginning of a new era in Hampden Estate’s long history. This rum is exclusively aged in 500-liter sherry casks from the most prestigious bodegas in Andalusia, where they previously held high-quality Fundador sherry. The result is a remarkable balance between the powerful and fruity notes of the rum and the sweetness and spices of the sherry casks.

World-Class Craftsmanship
Wild Fermentation – Extremely long fermentation with natural yeast
Only Pot Still Distillation – 100% artisanal distillation in copper pot stills
Natural Spring Water – Only water from an untouched natural source is used
No Additives – Natural color, no sugar, or artificial ingredients

Pagos Batch 3 – Production
Raw Material: Mix of molasses and dunder

Distillation Method: Double retort pot still
Cask Type: Ex-sherry (500 liters)
Aging: Tropical
Alcohol Strength: 52%

Hampden Pagos is the result of partnerships with two renowned bodegas in Jerez: Lustau and Fundador. Several casks have been transferred from the Andalusian cellars to Hampden Estate, where they have aged the distillery’s rums. The first edition of Pagos was a blend of rums aged in ex-Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks from Lustau. This third batch of Hampden Pagos is a blend of 16 casks from Bodegas Fundador, which previously held Oloroso for up to 30 years, and is filled with Hampden’s signature HLCF mark (Hampden Light Continental Flavoured). This version has an ester content of 374.1 gr/HLPA.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich and complex. The aroma opens with cloves, roasted walnuts, blood orange, apricot kernel, and cherry liqueur. Over time, almonds, dates, and a hint of coffee liqueur emerge.
Palate: Intense and lively. Notes of cane sugar, chestnut honey, and tropical flowers dominate the palate. Subsequent tones of vanilla and cocoa beans add depth, complemented by fine tannins. The aftertaste features notes of camphor and geranium.
Finish: Long and full-bodied. Coconut milk and honeysuckle provide a fresh finish, while nuances of varnish, light tobacco, linden blossom, pepper rose, coriander, and nuts round out the experience.

Hampden Estate – A Legendary History
Founded in 1753, Hampden Estate has been distilling rum for nearly three centuries in Trelawny Parish – an area historically known as the "grand cru" of Jamaican rum. The distillery is world-renowned for its powerful and intense rums, produced using unique methods that ensure remarkable aromas and an unforgettable taste experience. Since 2010, Hampden Estate has aged its rums on-site in the tropical Jamaican climate. The name "Pagos" originates from the Spanish word for vineyards in the Jerez region and reflects the idea of aging Hampden rum exclusively in premium 500-liter sherry casks used in the Solera method. This third edition of Pagos has been aged entirely in Jamaica in casks from Bodegas Fundador.
To highlight the perfect harmony between the complexity of the sherry and Hampden Estate’s high ester content, Pagos is bottled at 52%. A true gem for the discerning rum connoisseur!

Papalin Jamaica High Ester
5 year old rum 47% 2024

A Tribute to the Noble Blending Tradition
Papalin Jamaica 5-year-old rum is a new, exceptional release from Velier, created by visionary rum expert Luca Gargano. This rum takes us back to a bygone era when Jamaican merchants in the late 1800s crafted unique tropical blends. Back then, rum was an art form, and the origins of the distilleries often remained a secret. In the 1970s, large distilleries took over the sale of their own products, and the tradition disappeared – but now Papalin is here to revive it.

The Details Behind This Rum
This exclusive blend is a fusion of three exquisite Jamaican distilleries, all tropically aged in their respective locations. For the 2024 edition, this means a combination of Worthy Park, which has matured for five years in ex-bourbon casks, and Hampden LROK, which has gained depth from ex-sherry casks. The result is an authentic, intense, and complex experience that both honors tradition and sets new quality standards. This 2024 edition has been blended from 63 different casks.

Tasting Notes
Nose: An explosion of fruity esters with notes of ripe bananas, pineapple, and vanilla. Underlying aromas of spices and a subtle smokiness.
Palate: A harmonious balance between tropical fruit, caramel, toffee, and warm spices. The rum’s long aging in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks adds depth with chocolate and dried fruit.
Finish: Long and complex with notes of oak, light tannins, and a hint of tropical warmth.

Velier – Iconic Quality and Passion for Authentic Rum
The name Velier makes every rum enthusiast perk up. Luca Gargano, the man behind the brand, has shaken the rum world for decades with uncompromising and iconic releases. Velier first gained recognition in the 2000s for its exceptional Demerara rums, which are now traded for astronomical sums at auctions worldwide. Later, Velier made rum history with the legendary Caroni rum, a rare treasure from a now-closed Trinidad distillery, known for its distinctive notes of smoke, tar, and bacon. An "acquired taste," but once understood, there’s no turning back.
Alongside Foursquare master Richard Seale, Gargano is an unwavering advocate for transparency in the rum industry. Velier never adds sugar, color, or any additives, and their Habitation Velier series reveals every detail of production – from angel’s share to ester content.

Rum is made from juice or molasses from cane sugar and water. The mixture of sugar and water is fermented into a liquid with 8-10% alcohol. It is then distilled to an alcohol content of up to 90% and stored in oak barrels. After storage, the rum is diluted down to 40-43% alcohol and filled into bottles.
