Banff 38YO 1975 #1028 Bottling Note

Duncan Taylor only use rare, well aged whisky for their Tantalus range of releases, and this Banff single malt Scotch whisky fits the bill very well indeed. The Banff distillery closed in 1983, but long before that in 1975, they filled cask 1028. 38 years later, Duncan Taylor cracked open the cask, bottled the whisky in hand-blown decanters and made a Tantalus for each bottle out of the wood from that cask. Quite an extravagant endeavour, but for this whisky, it's totally worth it.

Kilkerran
Campbeltown Single Scotch Whisky

Distilled at: Glengyle Distillery
Aged: 12 years old
Bottled: 20/04/2021
Region: Campbeltown
Not chill filtered - No added colouring
Strength: 46%

Michell´s Glengyle Ltd. are very proud to be continuing and adding to the great Campbeltown Distilling and the choice of name reflect that. Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic ´Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain´ which is the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell and Campbeltown stands.

Kilkerran is througth to be a suitable name for a new Campbeltown Malt since it was unusual for a old Campbeltown distilleries to be called after a Glen, a custom more usually associated with the Speyside region.

In 2000, Hedley Wright, who also owns Springbank, managed to purchase the buildings with the aim of re-establishing the distillery. It took four years to find the necessary equipment and to have the buildings renovated. Some of the distillery's equipment is new, while some has been acquired from partly Craigellachie and partly the closed highland distillery Ben Wyvis, which operated in the period from 1965-77 at the grain distillery Invergordon.
The distillery was originally named Glengyle, but unfortunately it is not currently possible to bottle the whiskey under the distillery's name. There is already a blend with the same name, which is why the name Kilkerran was chosen as the name for the whiskey from Glengyle.

Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining Scottish distilleries still family-owned. Since 1865, the distillery has been in the hands of the same family: The Grants. John Grant was actually a cattle breeder when he bought Recherlich Farm and Glenfarcla's Distillery in 1865 for £ 511. It is the six-generation whiskey skill that benefits us consumers today. Glenfarclas means "The Valley with the Green Grass" in Gaelic, and the skilled Scots fetch the water used in the distillation in a small spring that springs from the beautiful and dramatic Ben Rinnes. The distillery is located at the foot of the heather-covered mountain, where the water springs from the underlying granite when the winter snow melts. The combination of the very clean, soft water and the completely unique shape of the potstills that Glenfarclas uses, contributes to the distillery's unique Highland Single Malts.

Highland Park Single Cask Saxo is - in addition to a whiskey that with notes of leather fat leads the mind in the direction of a neatly bound historical work - very similar to Saxo's description of the Dane: independent and completely his own. The storage on puncheons contributes to extra slap on the oak notes. Finish long with pleasant smoke and sweetness. Serving suggestions: Should be enjoyed rent, possibly. with a drop of water Highland Park is one of two caves on the northern archipelago, Orkney, and thus one of the world's most remote caves. It was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson, who was reportedly a priest by day and an illegal brandy burner by night. The year is not the time the whiskey was produced - just the year when the authorities heard about Magnus' enterprise. I today Highland Park is no small and secret company, men one of the world's most famous and respected deer! Highland Park primarily uses sherry casks, and these are custom-made in Jerez, where they are filled with oloroso sherry. Hers are about 2 years old before being sent to Orkney. The whiskey typically has a touch of smoke and the malt is smoked with peat from the Hobbister heath, the peat consists of compact layers of partially decomposed heather.
