Alpha Omega ERA Napa Valley 2021 is the house’s iconic flagship wine and one of the most coveted Bordeaux-inspired wines from California. This edition is sold as an exclusive 3-bottle case and represents the 15th vintage of ERA – a wine that has become the epitome of Alpha Omega’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship.

ERA was created as a meeting of classic European wine traditions and modern winemaking from Napa Valley. The result is a wine with impressive depth, structure and elegance. Each vintage tells the story of Napa Valley’s terroir and showcases the best the region has to offer.

From each harvest, winemakers select only the very best lots of red grapes from Alpha Omega’s impressive portfolio of vineyards. The selection varies from year to year, as the climate and vintage determine which fields yield the most harmonious and complex grapes.

The grapes come from some of Napa Valley’s most prestigious areas. Rutherford, Spring Mountain and Atlas Peak, among others, often contribute to the blend. The combination of mountain vineyards, valley floor and high altitude terroirs gives the wine great complexity and balance.

ERA is made exclusively from Bordeaux varieties that have proven to thrive in Napa Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon often forms the backbone, while Merlot, Petit Verdot and other varieties add depth, structure and aromatic complexity.

An important part of the wine’s character comes from Alpha Omega’s work with barrel fermentation. As pioneers of this technique, the house ferments the wine directly in oak barrels. This results in an unusual integration of tannins, fruit and spice as well as great ageing potential.

ERA 2021 is powerful, deep and elegant. The wine has great concentration, but also great balance and finesse. It can be enjoyed after decanting today, but will develop beautifully over many years in the cellar.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Intense and complex with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry. Nuances of cedar, vanilla, cocoa and spice add depth.

Flavor: Rich and concentrated with layers of dark berries, ripe plums and elegant spicy oak. Silky tannins provide structure and balance.

Finish: Long and powerful aftertaste with persistent fruit, spices and beautiful minerality.

Alpha Omega was founded in 2006 in Napa Valley by Robin and Michelle Baggett. Located in the heart of Napa Valley, the winery has quickly gained international recognition for its elegant and terroir-driven wines.
