Black Tot Last Consignment British Royal Navy 54.3% – The Last Original Navy Rum

Black Tot Last Consignment 54.3% isn’t just a rum – it’s liquid world history. This unique bottling contains the last original consignment of the genuine British Royal Navy rum, which marked the end of a more than 300 year old tradition in the British Navy.

On July 31, 1970 – a date known as “Black Tot Day” – the last daily rum ration was poured at precisely 6 o’clock in the morning watch on board Royal Navy ships. Thus ended an era that had lasted for over three centuries. With this bottle, you get the authentic rum that was part of that history.

According to original Royal Navy records, the rum was imported from the West Indies in oak casks by E.D. & F. Man & Co, official rum merchant for the navy since 1784. Upon arrival in England, the rum was transferred to large oak casks in the historic victualling warehouses of Deptford, Gosport and Devonport before being distributed to naval ships around the world.

When rum rationing was abolished, the remaining stocks were filled into imperial gallon stone bottles, sealed under HM Customs & Excise and placed in HM Bonded Warehouses. Here they lay untouched since December 1970 – until this unique bottling was released.

Bottled at a powerful 54.3%, Black Tot Last Consignment represents the authentic Navy style: dark, concentrated, intense and deeply complex. A rum for collectors, investors and serious enthusiasts who want a true piece of maritime history in their glass.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Deep and powerful with notes of molasses, dark caramel, tobacco, leather and dried fruit. Classic navy character with obvious age and concentration.

Flavor: Rich and massive structure. Dark syrup, raisins, burnt sugar, oak and spices. A distinctive, almost oily texture with great depth and complexity.

Finish: Very long, warm and spicy with notes of bitter chocolate, coffee and dried fruit that linger in the mouth for a long time.

This rum should be enjoyed neat to experience the full historical and flavor depth. A bottle like this doesn’t just get opened – it gets marked.
