Quinta do Noval 2017 Vintage Port – Great Vintage from Douro

Quinta do Noval 2017 Vintage Port is a monumental and classic Vintage Port from one of the Douro Valley’s most iconic estates. 2017 is considered one of the great vintages of recent times, and at Quinta do Noval, Vintage is only declared when the quality is top notch – regardless of quantity. The result is a powerful, concentrated and age-worthy port with depth and precision.

The grapes come exclusively from Quinta do Noval’s own vineyards in the heart of the Douro. Only up to 15% of the total production is selected for Vintage Port in the years the house chooses to declare – making each vintage extremely limited and coveted.

The wine is made from classic Douro grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Sousão and Tinta Roriz. After the harvest in August/September 2017, the wine is aged for 18 months in barrels in Quinta do Noval’s own cellars before being bottled in 2019 to preserve its structure and enormous aging potential.

This is a Vintage Port made for the cellar – but also for those great moments when only the best is good enough.

Tasting notes

Color: Intense, deep ruby red with an almost black core.

Aroma: Concentrated aromas of dark forest berries, blackcurrants and plums, accompanied by floral notes and subtle spice.

Flavor: Powerful and structured with dense fruit, pronounced but well-integrated tannins and a nice balance between sweetness and freshness.

Finish: Long, intense and layered with impressive depth and minerality.
