Cade Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Napa Valley 2018 – Intense, world-class mountain Cabernet

Cade Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 2018 is a powerful and uncompromising Napa Valley Cabernet from the cool, high altitude fields of Howell Mountain. Here you get concentration, structure and elegance in perfect balance. It’s a mountain wine with character, depth and impressive aging potential.

Howell Mountain is known for its volcanic soils and higher elevation above the Napa Valley fog. This results in smaller, more concentrated grapes with thicker skins and significant tannin structure. The 2018 vintage is also one of the most harmonious in recent memory. The result is a wine with both power and finesse.

The wine is aged in French oak barrels, adding spice, structure and deep complexity. The fruit is dark and intense. The tannins are firm but silky. This is a wine that requires a large glass and preferably some air. Perfect with ribeye, braised beef, game or mature cheeses.

Tasting notes

About Cade Estate and PlumpJack Group

The story starts in 1992 with PlumpJack Wines in San Francisco. The mission was to create a place where people could learn about wine while buying quality. In 1997, PlumpJack Winery was founded in Oakville Cross Road in Napa Valley. They became known as the first winery to use screw caps on fine wines – a bold move in a tradition-rich region.

The name PlumpJack was inspired by Shakespeare’s Sir John Falstaff from Henry IV. Later, Cade Estate Winery and Odette Estate were added under the PlumpJack umbrella. The Cade name also comes from Shakespeare and refers to the casks that were shipped from Bordeaux to England in Elizabethan times.

Cade Estate on Howell Mountain combines modern technology with respect for terroir. The result is wines with precision, a sustainable approach and a distinct identity. The 2018 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a strong testament to the house’s ambition and quality.
