Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015

Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015 is one of the most impressive wines from the famous Tuscan winery. This Riserva represents the essence of Brunello di Montalcino, where patience, terroir and craftsmanship meet in perfect balance. The result is a great wine with depth, finesse and enormous ageing potential.

The 2015 vintage is considered one of the best in recent times in Montalcino. The growing season offered ideal conditions where the Sangiovese grapes ripened slowly and evenly. This resulted in grapes with concentration, freshness and great structure. At Castello Romitorio, only the best parcels are selected in the cool, northwestern hills around Montalcino. Here, the terroir gives the wine its elegant style and characteristic balance.

Harvesting is done entirely by hand and each bunch is carefully sorted. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 36 months in large oak barrels. This is followed by a further 24 months of bottle ageing. When released, the wine is harmonious and complex, but still with plenty of development potential.

This Brunello Riserva is made for big moments. It goes perfectly with hearty dishes of game, lamb or slow-braised beef. At the same time, it’s a wine that can be stored for many years and develop even greater complexity.

  • Finish: Long and complex with minerality, spice and great balance.
  • Food Match: Ideal with game, lamb, braised dishes and mature cheeses.

History of the house – Castello Romitorio

Castello Romitorio was founded in 1984 by Italian artist Sandro Chia. He restored an old castle in Montalcino and created a place where art and wine production go hand in hand. The vision was to produce Brunello wines with respect for nature and the traditions of the area.

Today, the winery is run by Filippo Chia, Sandro Chia’s son. Together with the cellar master team, he continues to create wines that reflect the terroir of the Montalcino hills. The castle and cellar also serve as a gallery for Sandro Chia’s artwork. The combination of art, passion and wine makes Castello Romitorio a unique name in Tuscany.
