What makes this Cognac unique is the combination of fresh distillate and very old eaux-de-vie. The result is an intense, vibrant and layered flavor experience that evolves in the glass and continues to surprise.

Tasting notes

On the nose and in the first mouthful, you’re greeted by clean and bright citrus fruit, which gives the Cognac an impressive freshness. Then the middle-aged distillates unfold with warm notes of dried fruit – especially fig and apricot – adding depth and roundness. The finish is long, complex and influenced by the oldest distillates with elegant tertiary aromas of cigar box, leather and wet tobacco. A powerful yet harmonious finish that lingers for a long time.

An extremely limited anniversary cognac

To emphasize how unique this edition is, only 1866 bottles were produced – a direct reference to the year 1866, when Château de Montifaud was founded. Each bottle is numbered and bottled in 50 cl. bottles, making this Cognac a collector’s item for the serious Cognac lover.

The history of the house

Château de Montifaud was founded in 1866 by Augustin Vallet and has been in the family for six generations: Augustin, Pierre, Maurice, Louis, Michel and today Laurent Vallet. For this anniversary cognac, Laurent Vallet has selected distillates from each generation – from 1847, 1870, 1967, 1990, 1998 and 2005. All eaux-de-vie are sourced from the house’s famous “paradise” cellar, as well as a few very old bottles, after which they are carefully blended and bottled. A rare insight into the history of the house – all in one bottle.
