Distilled in 2002, the whisky has matured for more than two decades in a carefully selected Sherry Hogshead. The long maturation has resulted in impressive depth and complexity, with the character of the sherry cask blending harmoniously with the classic style of the distillery. Bottling took place on August 1, 2024 and only 301 bottles have been released worldwide.

As befits the Family Casks range, this whisky is bottled at its natural cask strength of 50.8%, with no chill filtration and no colorant added. The result is a pure, intense and nuanced whisky experience with nothing hidden or polished away.

Tasting notes

Nose: Rich and inviting with classic sherry notes. Raisins, roasted figs and dark chocolate are accompanied by orange peel and fine nuances of mocha and leather.

Flavor: Intense and deep with beautiful balance. Sweet spices, toasted oak and ripe dark fruits unfold layer by layer in the mouth. Velvety mouthfeel with great complexity and finesse.

Finish: Long, warm and elegant with notes of walnut, dried fruit and a slight dryness from the cask that rounds off the experience in a classy way.

The history of the house

Glenfarclas was founded in 1836 and has been family owned by J&G Grant since 1865. The name Glenfarclas means ‘green grass of the valley’ and the distillery’s scenic location in Speyside is clearly reflected in the whisky’s clean and classic style.

Glenfarclas is known for its traditional production, direct firing of the copper pot stills and the use of the highest quality sherry casks. The Family Casks series is the distillery’s crown jewel – a series of single cask bottlings, each cask selected for its unique character and maturation quality.
