House History – Château d’Yquem

Château d’Yquem has been producing sweet wine for over 400 years. It is the only estate in Bordeaux to have received the Premier Cru Supérieur classification in 1855. The château is situated on the highest hills of Sauternes. The grapes are cultivated with great care, with each vine producing only a single glass of wine. This reflects the uncompromising quality of the wine.

The noble rot concentrates both sugar and acidity, creating the intensity and finesse Château d’Yquem is known for. Even during the devastation of the phylloxera epidemic in the late 19th century, the estate remained a guiding star in Bordeaux. Today, the tradition continues under modern management. Each century brings new nuances, always with a focus on quality.

Château d’Yquem 1990 is more than a wine – it is an experience, an investment, and a tribute to the art of winemaking.
