Del Maguey Crema de Mezcal is a unique and characterful mezcal from Oaxaca, Mexico, where traditional craftsmanship and authentic ingredients create a spirit with both depth and finesse. This special edition combines classic mezcal with natural agave sweetness for a round and balanced flavor experience.

The base of this mezcal is 90% Del Maguey Mezcal San Luis del Río, a double-distilled mezcal made from 100% mature Espadín agave. To this is added 10% Miel de Maguey, a natural syrup extracted from roasted agaves. The combination produces a smooth and elegant mezcal where the characteristic smoke is balanced by sweet and aromatic nuances.

The agaves are grown in the remote mountains of Oaxaca, where the climate and soil create optimal conditions for mezcal production. The ripe agaves are traditionally roasted in earth ovens, which gives the mezcal its characteristic smoky aroma. The must is then naturally fermented and distilled in small copper kettles to preserve the complex flavors.

The result is a mezcal with a soft texture, an elegant balance of smoke and sweetness, and an aromatic depth that makes it suitable for both cocktails and enjoying neat.

Tasting notes

Smoky agave, light caramel and fresh citrus notes on the nose. The taste is round and pleasant with nuances of roasted agave, honey, caramel and mild smoke. The finish is soft and persistent with subtle notes of citrus, sweet agave and light spice.

Del Maguey Crema de Mezcal can be enjoyed neat, slightly chilled or used in cocktails, adding both complexity and an elegant sweetness.

The history of the house

Del Maguey was founded in 1995 by Ron Cooper and has since become one of the world’s most respected producers of quality mezcal. The brand works closely with local producers in Oaxaca and has a strong focus on sustainability, fair cooperation and preserving traditional production methods.

Del Maguey introduced the concept of Single Village Mezcal, where each mezcal in the series comes from one specific village and one distillery. This highlights the terroir – from the soil and climate to the natural yeast strains used in production.

The distinctive labels on the bottles were created by renowned artist Ken Price and depict everyday scenes from Mexico. They emphasize the cultural roots and artisanal tradition of mezcal.
