Domaine Louis Latour Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru “Les Quatre Journaux” 2016 Magnum

This is Burgundy at its absolute peak. Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru 2016 “Les Quatre Journaux” from Domaine Louis Latour is a truly monumental wine – and in the impressive 150 cl magnum format, you not only get a great Grand Cru, but also a bottle size that enhances both ageing potential and the overall experience.

The Latour family has owned a share of Romanée-Saint-Vivant since December 1898. The parcel “Les Quatre Journaux” lies in the south-western part of the vineyard, just a few metres from the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Its name refers to an old Burgundian unit of measurement: one “Journal” equals approximately 0.4 hectares. Although Latour’s first purchase included the entire plot, half was sold a few years later. Today, Maison Louis Latour owns 0.8 hectares in Romanée-Saint-Vivant.

The 2016 vintage is renowned for its balance, structure, and finesse. The combination of limestone-rich soils, excellent exposure, and Latour’s classic winemaking results in a wine of remarkable aromatic depth and a velvety, seamless texture. The magnum format allows for slower, more harmonious development over time, making this bottle especially appealing to collectors.

Tasting notes:
An intense and refined bouquet of red cherries, wild raspberries, and floral hints of violet, supported by subtle spice and beautifully integrated oak. On the palate, the wine is silky and precisely structured with fine, elegant tannins. Layers of complexity unfold gracefully, finishing with a long, powerful, and perfectly balanced finale.

This is a wine for the grandest occasions – ideal with game, veal, or as the crown jewel in a serious Burgundy cellar. A Grand Cru that combines historic pedigree with modern precision.
