Distilled exactly on January 1, 2000, this single cask marks the beginning of a new millennium and stands as a floating monument to time, tradition and Glenfarclas’ uncompromising quality.

This special edition is bottled from a single sherry butt and was specifically selected for the Danish market. This makes this bottling extra attractive to both collectors and passionate whisky lovers in Denmark. The bottling took place on June 28, 2022, and only 569 bottles were released – all bottled at natural cask strength of 56.1%.

As always with the Family Casks range, the whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without the addition of colorant. The result is an intense, deep and honest whisky where the influence of the sherry cask and the distillery’s classic house style come together. A great bottle to add to your collection – and a whisky that tells a story with every dram.

Tasting notes

Nose: Rich and inviting with deep sherry notes. Dried fruits, raisins and dark chocolate are accompanied by orange peel, nuts and a hint of spice.

Flavor: Full-bodied and powerful with great balance. Notes of figs, dark caramel, candied orange and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The alcohol adds intensity but is elegantly integrated.

Finish: Long and persistent with sherry body, dark chocolate, spices and a slight dryness from the mature oak.

History of the house

Glenfarclas was founded in 1836 and has been owned by the Grant family since 1865 when John Grant bought the distillery for £511. Today, Glenfarclas is still family run – now through six generations – and is one of the last remaining 100% family-owned distilleries in Scotland.

Glenfarclas is known and loved for its traditional production, direct firing of the boilers and, not least, its uncompromising use of sherry casks. The Family Casks range is the cornerstone of the distillery’s heritage: single cask bottlings, bottled at cask strength and without cold filtration, with each cask telling its own story.
