The essence of Glenfarclas in one bottle. Glenfarclas Family Casks 1992 #872 is an exclusive single cask bottling from the coveted Family Casks range – created for collectors and whisky lovers who appreciate authenticity, cask strength and classic sherried single malt.

Distilled in 1992, the whisky has matured for almost three decades in a carefully selected sherry butt. The long maturation has resulted in impressive depth and complexity, with the rich character of the sherry cask blending perfectly with Glenfarclas’ elegant and rich house style. Bottling took place on June 9, 2021, and only 608 bottles were released from cask #872.

As always in the Family Casks range, this whisky is bottled at natural cask strength of 56.5%, with no chill filtration and no colorant added. The result is an uncompromising and intense whisky experience – exactly as it leaves the cask.

Tasting notes

Nose: Deep and concentrated with dried fruits, raisins and dark chocolate. Spices, light leather and roasted nuts add extra layers and complexity.

Flavor: Rich and powerful with a classic sherry profile. Notes of figs, dark syrup, candied orange peel and warm spices like cinnamon and cloves. The alcohol is pronounced but nicely integrated.

Finish: Long and persistent with deep sherry body, dark chocolate, spices and an elegant dryness from the mature oak.

The history of the house

Glenfarclas was founded in 1836 and has been owned and run by the Grant family since 1865. Today, Glenfarclas is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that remains 100% family owned – renowned for its independence, traditional pot still distilling and uncompromising focus on sherry cask ageing.

The Family Casks range is a celebration of the distillery’s history and craftsmanship. Each bottling is bottled from a single cask, without cold filtration and at natural cask strength. Each bottle is a snapshot in time – and a unique chapter in Glenfarclas’ long history.
