Jean Pernet Biographie Extra Brut Grand Cru Magnum – Exclusive champagne from Mesnil-sur-Oger
Jean Pernet Biographie Extra Brut Grand Cru Magnum is an elegant and rare champagne from the family-owned champagne house Jean Pernet in the heart of Mesnil-sur-Oger in Champagne. Produced in very limited quantities, this prestige cuvée delivers a classic Grand Cru champagne with finesse, complexity and an impressive minerality.
The Champagne house has built a strong reputation for quality and craftsmanship over generations. The vineyards cover almost 40 hectares in several communes in Champagne, where the soil is particularly rich in limestone. This chalky soil gives the Chardonnay grape a distinctive minerality and elegance that can be clearly tasted in the wines from the house.
The grapes for this cuvée come from Grand Cru vineyards and from vines with an average age of around 40 years. All grapes are harvested by hand to ensure the best quality. Half of the wine has been aged in oak barrels for extra depth and structure. The wine is then aged for a full 7 years before bottling and then a further 6 months in bottle in the cellars of Jean Pernet.
The result is a refined Extra Brut champagne with just 3 grams of residual sugar per liter. It shows great precision, elegant fruit and a beautiful minerality. The magnum format also contributes to an even more harmonious development of the wine’s complexity.
Only 700 numbered magnum bottles of this special champagne have been produced, making it an attractive choice for collectors and champagne lovers alike.
Tasting notes
The aroma is delicate and elegant with notes of citrus, ripe apples and white flowers. There are also fine nuances of brioche and slightly toasted notes from the barrel ageing. The palate is complex and concentrated with a nice balance of fresh acidity, minerality and elegant fruit. The bubbles are fine and persistent, and the finish is long, crisp and dry.
