History of the house

Maker’s Mark was founded in 1953 by Bill Samuels Sr. the sixth generation distiller in Kentucky. He chose to burn the family’s old recipe and start from scratch with one clear vision: to create a smooth, rich and balanced bourbon. His wife Margie Samuels designed the iconic bottle and introduced the idea of dipping each bottle in red wax. Today, Maker’s Mark is still produced in small batches and with the same family spirit of quality over quantity.
