The history of the house

Metaxa (Greek: Μεταξά) was invented by Spyros Metaxas in 1888. He co-founded the first distillation plant and created a completely new type of Greek spirit, combining brandy with wine and carefully selected aromatic elements. In the more expensive versions, the proportion of wine is reduced to achieve a drier style.

Today, Metaxa is an international icon and an important part of Greek spirit tradition – known for its balance of sweetness, spice and smoothness.
