Paul Giraud Trés Rare Premier Cru de Cognac – Grande Champagne

Paul Giraud Trés Rare is an exclusive 50 years old Premier Cru de Cognac from the most prestigious region of Cognac, Grande Champagne. Here you get a rare and deeply complex cognac with impressive age, silky smooth structure and an elegance that only time and patience can create. This is a cognac for connoisseurs and collectors who seek the ultimate in traditional craftsmanship.

The grapes come from the family’s own 42 hectares of vineyards around the village of Bouteville in Grande Champagne. The area is known for its chalky terroir, which produces cognac with great finesse and ageing potential. At Paul Giraud, there is no compromise on quality. Every drop is distilled with respect for tradition and aged significantly longer than the minimum legal requirements.

Although this cognac bears the name Trés Rare, the label does not tell the whole story. The family deliberately chooses not to give an official age classification as it requires external control, which can limit their own management of the aging process. The result is an authentic Grande Champagne cognac where quality and family heritage always come before marketing.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Deep aromas of dried apricots, candied orange peel and roasted nuts. Fine notes of vanilla, old oak and a hint of cigar box.

Flavor: Extremely smooth and rounded. Layer upon layer of dried fruit, honey, caramel and dark chocolate. Elegantly spicy with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Finish: Very long and complex. Dried fruit, noble oak and silky warmth lingers in the mouth.

The history of the house

Paul Giraud is based in Bouteville in the heart of Grande Champagne. The family has 42 hectares of vineyards and has been growing wine and producing cognac for generations.
