It was created as a tribute to the British statesman Sir Winston Churchill, who had a very special relationship with Pol Roger for many years. He preferred powerful, complex, and age-worthy champagnes, and it is precisely these qualities that form the foundation of this exceptional cuvée.

The 2018 vintage has already earned a reputation as one of the strongest in recent times. A warm and sunny growing season combined with cool nights produced perfectly ripe grapes with great concentration and a vibrant freshness. The grapes come exclusively from Pol Roger’s finest Grand Cru vineyards, and as tradition dictates, the exact blend is kept secret. However, Pinot Noir forms the backbone of the wine, while Chardonnay adds elegance, finesse, and minerality.

In the glass, the champagne displays a beautiful golden color and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is deep and nuanced, with aromas of citrus, white flowers, ripe peaches, toasted hazelnuts, and freshly baked brioche. With a little aeration, it develops notes of honey, spices, and subtle toasted tones that underscore the wine’s impressive complexity.
