Quevedo 50 Years White Port – Exclusive white port from the Douro

Quevedo 50 Years White Port is a rare and impressive white port from the Douro Valley – made for those special moments. We’re talking about an aged white port of the highest order, where five decades of maturation have created a wine with depth, intensity and a complexity that only time can produce.

This 50 years of White Port is the result of careful barrel aging in a combination of chestnut barrels of various sizes, including classic 550 liter barrels and larger barrels. The use of chestnut gives the wine a special structure and character that differs from traditional oak barrels and contributes to its unique aromatic profile.

It’s a white port with both power and elegance – created to impress at festive occasions, as an after-dinner meditation wine or as an exclusive addition to the finest cheese table. If you’re looking for a 50-year-old white port with intense aroma, vibrant acidity and a long finish, this is the perfect choice.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Very intense and complex bouquet with spices, ripe dates and nutty undertones intertwined with candied fruit. A lively and fresh citrus profile provides lift, while notes of brown sugar and fine oxidative nuances create depth and elegance.

Flavor: Crisp and precisely balanced, with fresh acidity beautifully supporting the wine’s natural sweetness. Flavors of dates, roasted nuts, caramel, hazelnuts and crème brûlée unfold layer upon layer. The long barrel aging gives structure and complexity without losing freshness.

Finish: Extraordinarily long and lively with a distinct citrus profile and a supple acidity that keeps the flavor floating long after the last sip.

The house behind it – Quevedo

The Quevedo family is based in the small town of São João da Pesqueira in the heart of the Douro Valley. The vineyard has been in the family for generations, and like many small winemakers, they originally sold their grapes to the big Port houses – in Quevedo’s case to Taylor, among others, which is a testament to the quality of the grapes.

However, in the hot vintage of 1975, the family was forced to produce their own wine as the grapes were not initially purchased. This was the beginning of their own wine production – a decision that changed the family’s history. In 1983, they bought Quinta Vale D’Agodinho, today their main vineyard, located between Quinta da Vargellas and the historic Cachão da Valeira.

Since 1991, Quevedo has been producing wines under its own name, and with the next generation – Claudia as oenologist and Oscar Jr. as front man – the house has grown significantly. Today, Quevedo exports port and Douro wines worldwide and is known for its quality, authenticity and respect for the traditions of the Douro.
