Quinta do Noval 2018 Vintage Port – Exclusive top vintage from the heart of the Douro

Quinta do Noval 2018 Vintage Port is a powerful and uncompromising Vintage from one of the Douro’s most iconic producers. The house only declares Vintage in years when the quality fully meets their own strict standards. In 2018, only 1,600 cases were produced, representing only 7% of the total production. This makes this vintage both rare and sought after.

The grapes come from Quinta do Noval’s own vineyards in the heart of Cima Corgo. The combination of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinto Cão and Sousão gives structure, deep color and marked aromatic intensity. The harvest took place in September and October 2018.

After fermentation, the wine aged for 18 months in barrels in Quinta do Noval’s own cellars before being bottled in 2020. This controlled barrel aging ensures a balance between fruit and tannin while preserving the aging potential of the wine.

Tasting notes

Color: Deep, almost black ruby with a violet tinge.

Aroma: Intense aroma of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry. Floral notes and a hint of spice.

Flavor: Powerful and concentrated with dense dark fruit, firm tannin structure and fresh acidity. Sousão contributes energy and backbone.

Finish: Long, structured and precise with impressive ageing potential.

This Vintage Port can be enjoyed young with decanting, but will develop beautifully over decades in the cellar.

Quinta do Noval

Quinta do Noval is one of the most famous quinta in the Douro and has been producing port since the early 1700s. Located in Cima Corgo, the property has extensive vineyards overlooking the Douro River.
