Serendipia Reserva Brut 2021 – Organic Cava Guarda Superior from Valencia

Serendipia Reserva Brut 2021 is an elegant and characterful cava created through an exciting collaboration between the Ramón Reula family and a renowned organic cava producer near Valencia. After the success of the Immortalis project, the next natural step was to create a sparkling wine that combines terroir, craftsmanship and organic winemaking in a modern style.

This cava is classified as Cava Guarda Superior, a quality category that places high demands on the vineyard, production and aging. The grapes are organically grown and come from vineyards planted at approximately 750 meters above sea level in the Levante Cava zone near the town of Requena in the province of Valencia. The high altitude provides ideal conditions for sparkling wine, where large temperature differences between day and night preserve the freshness and aroma of the grapes.

The vineyards are located around 65 km from the Mediterranean Sea and are influenced by both Mediterranean and more continental microclimates. The soils are mainly limestone and clay, which contributes to the wine’s beautiful minerality and structure. The low yields in the vineyard ensure high concentration and quality in the grapes.

The Cava is made from Chardonnay and Macabeo (Viura), which together create a wine with freshness, fruit and elegance. As a Reserva, the wine is aged for a minimum of 18 months in the bottle before disgorgement, which gives it more complexity, fine bubbles and a nice balance.

Serendipia Reserva Brut 2021 is a versatile cava that works perfectly as an aperitif, but also with fish, seafood, tapas or light dishes from Mediterranean cuisine.

Tasting notes

The aroma is fresh and elegant with notes of citrus, green apples and white flowers. Light nuances of brioche and roasted nuts from the yeast aging are also present. The taste is crisp and well-balanced with fresh fruit, fine bubbles and a nice minerality. The finish is dry, clean and persistent.

The Serendipia project was created with the ambition to produce high-quality cava with respect for nature and the terroir of the area. The collaboration between the Ramón Reula family and local producers in Valencia has resulted in sparkling wines that combine traditional methods with modern wine philosophy.

The Requena area is today one of the most exciting regions for quality cava outside of Catalonia. The combination of high altitude vineyards, calcareous soils and large temperature differences produce wines with freshness, structure and great elegance.
