Taylor’s Chip Dry Extra White Port – The original dry white port

Taylor’s Chip Dry Extra White Port is a classic and refreshing white port from the traditional port house Taylor’s in the Douro Valley. Created in 1934, this port was the first dry white port on the market. It quickly became popular for its crisp style and elegant balance of freshness and fruit.

The name Chip Dry comes from the Old English expression “dry as a chip”, which describes its dry and fresh character. Unlike many white Ports, Chip Dry is known for its light, fresh and almost aperitif-like style. This makes it perfect as a chilled glass before dinner.

Taylor’s Chip Dry can be enjoyed on its own, served well chilled or over ice. It is also known as the main ingredient in the classic Portuguese port cocktail – Port & Tonic. Here, one part Chip Dry is mixed with two parts tonic water and served with ice, a slice of lemon or lime and possibly a sprig of mint. The result is a light, crisp and elegant drink that serves as an exciting alternative to a classic gin and tonic.
