Velier Vieux Sajous 4 Year Old Cask Strength Second Release is a rare and uncompromising version of the traditional Haitian clairin – here in a significantly aged and cask strength version of 56.3%. A unique spirit for connoisseurs seeking authenticity, power and terroir in its purest form.

Clairin is Haiti’s answer to rum – raw, vibrant and distilled from fresh sugarcane juice using ancient methods. Clairin is usually bottled young and unaged, but Vieux Sajous breaks tradition. This release is aged for four years, which is unusual for the style and adds a whole new dimension of depth and complexity.

Second Release is created as a blend of 12 carefully selected casks that previously held single malt whisky or rum. The interplay between spirit and wood has developed a distinctive aromatic complexity, with esterification during aging elevating both aroma and flavor. The result is an intense, structured and deeply characterful rum with plenty of personality.

Bottled at cask strength, this Vieux Sajous retains all its raw power and concentration. It’s a rum that speaks directly to enthusiasts – and can be enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open up even more layers.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Intense notes of ripe tropical fruits, green banana, sugar cane, spices and a hint of smoke and oak. A vibrant and complex aroma with both freshness and depth.

Taste: Powerful and rich with layers of fermented fruit, caramelized sugar cane, vanilla, spicy oak and slightly salted minerality. The barrel aging gives structure and balance to the natural, wild clairin character.

Finish: Long, warm and persistent with spice, fruit and a slightly dry, elegant finish.
