This rum was distilled in December 2005 and aged for 16 years in ex-bourbon casks under continental conditions. The long maturation gives a complex and deep structure, fusing the spicy notes of the cask with Long Pond’s distinctive, aromatic and ester-rich style. The result is a rum with both an explosive nose and massive mouthfeel – exactly what you’d expect from a true Wild Series bottling.

Cask No. 5 has delivered a distinctive and personal expression, with the high alcohol strength carrying the flavors forward and allowing you to experiment with a few drops of water if you want to open up even more nuances in the glass. This is rum that demands attention – and rewards it.

Tasting notes

• Nose: Intense and aromatic with overripe banana, pineapple, mango and classic Jamaican funk. Also vanilla, caramel, coconut and distinct barrel spices.
• Flavor: Powerful and rich with lots of tropical fruit, dark sugar, toasted oak, spice and a distinctive, oily texture. The alcohol adds warmth and depth without overpowering the complexity.
• Finish: Long, dry and spicy with fruity esters, wood and a slightly bitter note of cocoa and citrus.
