Tasting Notes – Glenfarclas 1993 #4439
Colour: Amber-gold with copper-red hues – clearly influenced by the long maturation in a sherry butt.
Nose: Complex and deep with notes of dark chocolate, dried figs, raisins, and aged leather. A subtle touch of mocha and spiced oak reveals the depth of nearly three decades of aging.
Palate: Silky and full-bodied mouthfeel with notes of candied orange peel, burnt caramel, and spiced fruitcake. Layers unfold with walnut, tobacco, and hints of liquorice and dark espresso.
Finish: Long and warming with a dry, sherry-like conclusion that perfectly balances sweetness and tannin. An elegant ending with a hint of toasted oak and dark fruits.

The Story of Glenfarclas – Independence Since 1836
Glenfarclas Distillery, nestled in the scenic Speyside region, has been family-owned by the Grant family since 1865. The name Glenfarclas means “valley of the green grass” in Gaelic, and the distillery is renowned for its uncompromising approach to quality and tradition. It remains one of the few Scottish distilleries that is still 100% family-owned and continues to produce whisky the old-fashioned way – with direct-fired stills, slow distillation, and aging in carefully selected sherry casks. The Family Casks series is the flagship of Glenfarclas’ range, offering whisky enthusiasts access to vintage expressions, each drawn from a single, unique cask.
