Santa Sofia Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2018 is the epitome of classic Amarone from the heart of Veneto. It’s a big, intense yet elegant red wine, made with the best grapes and the patience of only the most dedicated producers.

Over generations, Santa Sofia has built a solid reputation as a quality-conscious producer where tradition and modern techniques go hand in hand. The result is wines with depth, character and balance – and this Amarone 2018 is no exception.

The wine is made from Corvina (70%), Rondinella (25%) and Molinara (5%). The grapes have been left to dry for a full 100 days using the traditional appassimento method, which concentrates sugar, aroma and structure. Only the very best bunches are selected for Amarone production.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for 36 months in oak barrels and then a further 8-12 months in bottle before release. This long maturation produces a wine with complexity, depth and a silky, rounded structure.

It’s an Amarone that impresses at the dinner table, with simmered dishes, braised beef, game or mature cheeses – but also as a large glass for quiet contemplation.
