The story of A.H. Riise

The story of A.H. Riise began in June 1838, when the Danish government appointed Albert Heinrich Riise as the exclusive apothecary on the island of Saint Thomas in the West Indies. At the same time, he was granted a monopoly on the production of alcohol in his pharmacy.

Riise originally developed rum and bitters as medicinal products to treat stomach diseases. Over time, his products became known for their quality and character. In 1893, the A.H. Riise Company received international recognition at the Chicago World’s Fair, marking the beginning of its international reputation.
