Château Cheval Blanc 1979 – St. Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A
A legend from Bordeaux – elegance, depth, and history in every drop

Château Cheval Blanc 1979 is a true classic from the heart of Saint-Émilion. This iconic wine is a symbol of balance, finesse, and grandeur. The 1979 vintage is a rare find, crafted from a terroir bordering Pomerol, where Merlot and Cabernet Franc meet in perfect harmony.

The color is deep and vibrant ruby red. The bouquet reveals ripe berries, dried flowers, and cedarwood with a hint of tobacco. On the palate, the wine unfolds with soft tannins and elegant fruit. Blackcurrant, cherry, and violet blend together in a long, silky finish.

Cheval Blanc 1979 demonstrates why this estate belongs among Bordeaux’s absolute elite. It has retained its freshness and structure while exuding the warm maturity that only decades in the bottle can bring. A wine for connoisseurs, collectors, and anyone who loves classic French greatness.

The Story of Château Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc traces its roots back to the 1830s. At that time, the land was part of the renowned Domaine de Figeac. It was later acquired by the Fourcaud-Lussac family, who recognized the potential of this unique terroir. They built an estate that has since become one of the most respected wine producers in the world.

In 1998, ownership passed to Albert Frère and Bernard Arnault. Under the direction of Pierre Lurton, major investments were made in both vineyards and cellars. In 2011, a new, modern winery designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc was inaugurated — a perfect fusion of innovation and tradition.

Today, Château Cheval Blanc is owned by the LVMH Group. The estate proudly retains its title as Premier Grand Cru Classé A – the highest distinction in Saint-Émilion.
