Distilled in 1992 and bottled on June 2, 2020 after almost three decades of calm and patient maturation. The sherry cask has left a deep and elegant mark that only time can create and the result is an intense, complex and silky single malt with immense depth and character.

Tasting notes

On the nose, concentrated aromas of dark dried fruit, raisins, dates and figs, accompanied by warm spices, leather and a hint of dark chocolate. With time in the glass, deeper notes of orange peel, coffee and nuts unfold.

The taste is rich, powerful and impressively balanced despite the high alcohol. Rich sherry notes, spicy oak, cocoa, candied fruit and light toffee merge into a complex whole. The finish is long, warm and lingering with dried fruit, spice and elegant oak.

The history of the house

Glenfarclas is one of the last family-owned distilleries in Scotland and has been in the hands of the Grant family since 1865. The name Glenfarclas means ‘valley of green grass’ and the distillery is beautifully situated at the foot of Ben Rinnes in the heart of Speyside.

Glenfarclas is known for its traditional production methods, direct heated pot stills and uncompromising focus on sherry matured whiskies. The Family Casks range is the family’s own tribute to their history, their casks and their craft – and each bottling tells its own story.
