Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2021 – A classic Rhône wine with elegance and depth

Domaine du Pegau Cuvée Réservée 2021 is a seductive Châteauneuf-du-Pape from one of the Southern Rhône’s most famous wineries. Here, juicy fruit, spicy herbs, and an elegant structure come together in a red wine with plenty of personality.

The 2021 vintage showcases a fresher and more refined side of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wine has a beautiful balance between ripe fruit, lively acidity, and fine tannins. This makes it an exciting choice for those who love classic French red wine with both power and finesse.

Traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape from old vines

Cuvée Réservée is made primarily from Grenache, supplemented with Syrah, Mourvèdre, and other traditional grape varieties from the region.

The grapes are harvested from old vines, which contribute concentration and complexity. Domaine du Pegau follows classic methods, including whole-cluster fermentation and aging in large, old oak barrels.

The barrels allow the wine to develop without pronounced notes of new oak. This highlights the natural fruit, the southern French herbs, and the region’s distinctive character.

Tasting Notes – Domaine du Pegau Cuvée Réservée 2021

Color: A beautiful ruby red color with vibrant, dark red hues.

Nose: Inviting aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, and blackberries. Subtle hints of thyme, pepper, licorice, and dried Mediterranean herbs add extra depth to the bouquet.

Palate: Juicy, elegant, and harmonious, with red and dark berries, subtle spices, and a lovely freshness. The tannins are well-integrated, and the finish is long, with notes of licorice, herbs, and ripe cherries.

An ideal companion for fine dining

Domaine du Pegau Cuvée Réservée 2021 pairs excellently with leg of lamb, duck breast, veal, and juicy steaks. It’s also a wonderful choice for slow-cooked dishes featuring mushrooms, rosemary, and thyme.

Serve the wine at 16–18 degrees. Feel free to let it breathe in a decanter for an hour to allow the elegant aromas to fully develop.

The 2021 vintage can be enjoyed now but also has the potential to develop further complexity with proper storage.

Domaine du Pegau – A Family with Wine in Their Blood

Domaine du Pegau is among the most traditional producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Féraud family has been growing grapes in the region for generations.

In 1987, Paul Féraud and his daughter Laurence founded Domaine du Pegau under the name that is now known among wine lovers worldwide.

Laurence Féraud has carried on the family’s classic style with respect for old vines, traditional winemaking methods, and the region’s unique terroir.

Cuvée Réservée is the estate’s signature wine and a beautiful example of the authentic, spicy, and elegant style that has made Domaine du Pegau a sought-after name in the Rhône.
