Domaine de Carmignan Côtes du Rhône 2023 is a classic and generous Rhône wine with lots of fruit, warm spices and true Mediterranean character. This is a wine that combines juicy drinking pleasure with great structure and elegant tannins – exactly the kind of wine that makes Côtes du Rhône so beloved among wine enthusiasts.

Located between Chusclan and Pont-Saint-Esprit on the right bank of the Rhône River, Domaine de Carmignan’s 30 hectares of vineyards benefit from the warm southern French climate and the limestone and clay soils. Benoît and Frédéric Lavau took over the vineyard in 2011 after falling in love with the area’s unique terroir and the elegant style the wines from here can express.

The wine is composed of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and small proportions of Carignan and Cinsault. The grapes are completely destemmed and undergo a slightly cold pre-fermentation to bring out the freshness and aromatic fruit notes. This is followed by approximately 15 days of maceration before the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure and vibrant fruit.

Domaine de Carmignan Côtes du Rhône 2023 is an incredibly versatile food wine that pairs perfectly with grilled meats, stews, tapas and classic Mediterranean dishes. Grilled beef in particular brings out the spicy and fruity character of the wine.

Tasting notes

The color is deep ruby red with beautiful violet hues. The aroma offers ripe red berries, sun-warmed garrigue, pine forest and an elegant hint of licorice. The taste is round and fruity with lots of ripe berries, light spicy sweetness and a nice structure where the firm tannins provide length and balance.

The history of the house

Domaine de Carmignan became part of the Lavau family’s wine adventure in 2011, when Benoît and Frédéric Lavau took over the property in the Gard region. The family quickly recognized the potential of the many grape varieties and the special elegance that the terroir on the right bank of the Rhône River brings to the wines.

For generations, the Lavau family has worked with passion for Rhône wines and respect for the terroir. With Domaine de Carmignan, they continue the tradition of creating authentic wines from the south of France with a focus on balance, character and great drinking pleasure.
