History of the house

Glencadam Distillery was founded in 1825 – just one year after large-scale distilling was legalized in Scotland. Located peacefully outside the historic town of Brechin in the Angus region, the distillery has used pure spring water from the Unthank Hills as the foundation for its whisky since the beginning.

One of Glencadam’s most distinctive features is their unique pot stills with upward-facing lie pipes at a 15 degree angle. This rare construction lifts only the lightest alcohol vapors forward in the distillation, creating the distinctive light, delicate and elegant style that Glencadam is known for around the world.

With almost 200 years of history, Glencadam has stuck to traditional methods and uncompromising quality – and Glencadam 10 Years is a beautiful example of the house philosophy of purity, balance and true Highland character.
