The whisky was distilled in 1995 and bottled on July 28, 2022 from a single sherry butt. The long maturation has given the whisky time to develop complexity and elegance, with the sherry cask contributing warm spices, dried fruit and structure without overpowering the natural finesse of the distillate. With an alcoholic strength of 50.2%, it comes with great intensity, but still rounded and harmonious.

Only 568 bottles of this bottling have been made, making it both rare and of great interest to collectors. It’s a whisky that’s perfect for slow enjoyment – preferably with a few drops of water to open up even more layers in the flavor profile.

Tasting notes:
The nose offers classic sherry aged depth with notes of raisins, dried figs, orange peel, nuts and a hint of spice. The palate is rich and well-balanced with dark fruit, sherry sweetness, cocoa, spicy oak and malt. The finish is long and elegant with lingering heat, sherry and a slightly dry finish.

Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining Scottish distilleries still family owned. Since 1865, the distillery has been in the hands of the Grant family. John Grant was originally a cattle farmer when he bought Recherlich Farm and Glenfarclas Distillery in 1865 for just £511.
