Graham’s 1994 Single Harvest Tawny Port

Graham’s 1994 Single Harvest Tawny Port is an exclusive tawny port from one of the Douro’s most legendary vintages. 1994 is known as one of the greatest port vintages of the late 20th century. This wine clearly shows why the vintage still excites Port lovers around the world.

The grapes come from Quinta dos Malvedos, one of Graham’s most important and recognized properties in the Douro Valley. After harvest, the house winemaker selected some of the best wines for long barrel aging. The wines were aged in spicy oak barrels in Graham’s historic lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia.

The long wood aging has developed the character and complexity of the wine. At the same time, it has maintained a beautiful balance between ripe fruit, freshness and elegant spices. The result is a refined and deeply nuanced tawny port with great harmony.

This Single Harvest Tawny Port is perfect for special moments. It works beautifully at the end of a fine dinner. It also goes great with mature cheeses, nut-based desserts or classic caramel desserts. Many people also enjoy it on its own in the glass, allowing all its nuances to unfold.

The wine is the result of years of patience and experience. Peter Symington originally selected some of the best barrels from 1994. Later, Charles Symington has followed the wine’s development over the years. He has selected the finest barrels for this limited edition.

Tasting notes: The color is a beautiful amber gold with deep mahogany nuances. The aroma is complex with notes of dried fruits, walnuts and roasted almonds. There are also aromas of figs, orange peel, caramel and warm spices. The taste is silky and intense. It has great acidity, great depth and a long aftertaste with nuts, candied fruit and spicy cask.

History of the house: Graham’s is one of the most iconic port houses in the Douro. The house has been known for generations for its full-bodied and rich style. The Symington family is behind the house’s port wines today. They continue to work according to the same principles of quality, tradition and respect for the unique terroir of the Douro Valley.
