Graham’s 80 year old Tawny Port
A masterpiece of time and patience
There are ports – and then there is Graham’s 80-year-old Tawny Port. This rare and awe-inspiring wine is a tribute to time, patience, and craftsmanship. After more than eight decades in carefully chosen oak casks, it stands as living proof of how time can turn wine into art.
With over 200 years of winemaking tradition, Graham’s has created a port that unites depth, freshness, and complexity. Such harmony can only be achieved through generations of dedication. The result is an extraordinary tawny port, whose aroma alone tells the story of decades of slow maturation in the warm Douro Valley and the cool cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia.
A port beyond compare
Graham’s 80-year-old Tawny Port is drawn from some of the house’s oldest casks – wines dating back to the 1940s. Every drop reflects patience and perfection. The port has developed a deep amber-golden hue and an aromatic richness found only in the rarest tawnies.
This is not merely a wine, but an experience – a journey through time. Each sip reveals echoes of history and the devotion of generations who have cared for the wine as though it were family.
Tasting notes – concentrated elegance and infinite finesse
The nose opens with walnuts, hazelnuts, and dried figs, followed by honey, vanilla, and aged oak. On the palate, it is seductive and profoundly complex: praline, black tea, caramelized fruit, and a touch of quince. Despite its great age, the wine retains remarkable freshness and vitality, with a finish that seems endless.
Serve at 16–18°C, slightly chilled, in large glasses to allow the aromas to unfold fully. This is a wine to be savored slowly – on its own or as the grand finale to an exceptional meal.
The Douro Valley – cradle of port
Graham’s ports are made from grapes grown in the Douro Valley, one of the world’s most spectacular wine regions. Steep mountainsides, rocky terraces, and an extreme climate of scorching summers and icy winters combine to create grapes of intense character and complexity.
Graham’s owns five of the finest vineyards in the Douro – all classified as A-grade. They are cultivated with respect for nature, preserving native flora to enhance the expression of the terroir. Here lies the origin of the legendary 80-year-old Tawny Port.
About Graham’s – tradition, passion, and innovation since 1820
The story of W. & J. Graham’s began in 1820, when the Graham brothers received 27 barrels of port as payment for a debt. That moment marked the beginning of a legacy and a name now synonymous with some of the world’s most prestigious ports.
In 1970, Symington Family Estates acquired the house. This family, with deep roots in the Douro, has a passion for port that spans generations. Today, the Symingtons own several renowned port houses and remain a symbol of quality, tradition, and innovation.
Graham’s motto, Do Not Forget, captures this philosophy perfectly: to honor the past while shaping the future.
Graham’s 80-year-old Tawny Port is more than a wine – it is a story of life, patience, and love for the craft. An unforgettable gift for any wine lover, and a true icon of port at its finest.
