Kilkerran Heavily Peated Campbeltown Single Malt – Batch 13 – 58.6%

Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 13 is raw, intense and uncompromising Campbeltown whisky, created for the experienced whisky lover seeking power, smoke and real character. This bottling is a strong expression of Campbeltown’s distinctive style – maritime, oily and distinctive – and delivers an experience that stands in stark contrast to the more polished single malts from other regions.

Bottled at full strength of 58.6% and without cold filtration, this is a whisky with maximum depth of flavor and authenticity. Batch 13 is heavily smoked but balanced with complexity, sweetness and structure. A whisky that rewards both slow enjoyment and a few drops of water in the glass.

Kilkerran Heavily Peated has become a modern classic among fans of smoked whisky and the Campbeltown tradition. This batch is no exception – intense, focused and full of personality.

Tasting notes

Nose: Heavy peat smoke with maritime notes, salted caramel, lemon zest and light vanilla. Underlying aromas of wet ash, leather and spicy oak.

Taste: Rich and oily with intense smoke, black pepper, licorice and dark malt. Notes of citrus, vanilla and light sweetness balance the heavy peat. The alcohol strength is pronounced but nicely integrated.

Finish: Long, warm and persistent with peat smoke, salted caramel, spices and a dry, slightly ashy finish.

History of the house

Kilkerran is produced by Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd. who proudly carry on the proud distilling tradition of Campbeltown. The name Kilkerran comes from the Gaelic “Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain”, the name of the original settlement where Saint Kieran had his religious cell – and where Campbeltown later originated.

The choice of name is deliberate. Historically, it was unusual for Campbeltown distilleries to be named after a ‘Glen’, a tradition particularly associated with Speyside. Kilkerran is therefore a name that anchors the whisky in local history and identity – and emphasizes respect for the distinctiveness of Campbeltown.

Today, Kilkerran is recognized worldwide for its uncompromising style, traditional production methods and whiskies with edge, depth and authenticity.
