The history of the house

Founded in the late 1970s,Kistler Vineyards has since established itself as one of the most iconic producers of Chardonnay in California. The house works with a special Burgundy clone of Chardonnay that was brought to California in the early 1900s. Over the decades, this clone has been carefully selected and adapted to local conditions.

Today, Kistler grows grapes in around fifteen fields in Carneros, Sonoma Valley, Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast, among others. Yields are kept low and grapes are small and concentrated, resulting in wines with great intensity, freshness and a distinct terroir. Kistler has therefore become a reference point for American Chardonnay and a name associated with uncompromising quality.
