Plantation Rum Extreme No. 3 HJC Long Pond 22 years – Jamaica collector’s rum 56.2%

Get ready for a rum experience that truly deserves the word extreme. Plantation Rum Extreme No. 3 HJC is a rare and uncompromising release from Jamaica – distilled at the iconic Long Pond Distillery and bottled in a strong and intense expression. This is a bottle that speaks directly to collectors and connoisseurs looking for uniqueness: depth, power, character and history in the same glass.

This is Jamaican rum at its most powerful: long tropical aging, a distinct pot still character and a finish that elevates complexity. With only 2121 bottles in total, it’s a limited gem that won’t come again in the same form.

Distilled in 1996, the rum has matured for a full 22 years via Plantation/Ferrand’s famous double maturation. First you get tropical aging in Jamaica, where heat and humidity accelerate maturation and concentrate the flavor. Then the rum spends a final period in Ferrand cognac barrels in France, which adds extra elegance, roundness and a refined barrel spice.

The style is classic Jamaica with plenty of personality: John Dore Pot Still adds body, esters, fruit and an aromatic intensity that makes Long Pond so coveted among fans of serious rum. At the same time, this edition stands out with its impressive strength of 56.2% – a rum that delivers everything from the first whiff to the last, long aftertaste.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Intense tropical fruits, warm spices and a distinctive, deep cask character. A slight smoky sweetness also emerges for added edge and complexity.

Flavor: Powerful and full-bodied with layers of vanilla, caramel and darker, barrel-spiced nuances. The long ageing shows in the concentrated depth and distinct pot still character that lingers and develops in the glass.

Finish: Long, warm and persistent with fruit, spice and elegant wood – a finish that continues to add detail.

Tip: Enjoy it neat in a tulip glass and give it some time. A single drop of water can open up even more layers of aromas if you want to explore the full range of the rum.

The story of the house

Plantation (Maison Ferrand) is known for selecting special casks from some of the world’s most famous rum destinations and then refining the expression through their signature: double aging. The combination of tropical maturation and a final period in Ferrand cognac barrels in France has made the range famous for intensity, depth and a special elegance – and the ‘Extreme’ releases are the icing on the cake, created for those who want the rare, the powerful and the uncompromising.
