Pommery Cuvée Louise 2008 – an exclusive prestige champagne from a great vintage

Pommery Cuvée Louise 2008 is an exclusive prestige champagne from the historic Pommery champagne house in Reims. A champagne with impressive elegance, great complexity, and a freshness that characterizes the outstanding 2008 vintage.

Cuvée Louise is the house’s prestigious tribute to Madame Louise Pommery. The champagne is produced exclusively in select vintages where the grapes meet the necessary quality standards. It blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from some of Champagne’s most renowned Grand Cru vineyards.

The result is a refined champagne with fine bubbles, lively acidity, and a beautiful mineral character. A special experience for the champagne lover seeking elegance and depth in a single glass.

The 2008 vintage—one of Champagne’s great vintages

2008 is considered one of the most successful Champagne vintages in recent times. The growing season was marked by cool conditions, but a favorable finish ensured grapes with excellent ripeness.

The natural acidity was preserved, while the fruit developed great concentration. This created excellent conditions for champagnes with freshness, complexity, and a long aging potential.

Pommery Cuvée Louise 2008 showcases the vintage’s distinctive qualities. The champagne has a precise structure, elegant fruit nuances, and an impressive balance.

Grand Cru grapes with elegance and character

Cuvée Louise is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from selected Grand Cru vineyards in Champagne.

Chardonnay contributes fresh citrus, floral notes, and mineral finesse. Pinot Noir adds structure, body, and a more mature fruit character.

The interplay of the grapes results in a champagne with both lightness and depth. The elegant style is underscored by a fine mousse and lively acidity.

Tasting Notes – Finesse, Freshness, and Complexity

Color: Elegant pale gold with fine, persistent bubbles.

Aroma: Refined aromas of lemon, ripe apples, and white flowers. Subtle nuances of brioche, toasted almonds, and chalky minerality add extra depth.

Taste: Fresh and elegant with citrus, green apples, and ripe stone fruit. The creamy mousse creates a beautiful balance between fruit, acidity, and subtle toasted notes.

Finish: Long and precise, with mineral freshness, citrus, and delicate nutty nuances. A harmonious finish with impressive finesse.

Extended bottle aging in Pommery’s historic cellars

Pommery Cuvée Louise is given ample time to develop in the house’s famous cellars beneath Reims.

The extended aging on the lees contributes to the champagne’s fine bubbles and complex character. Along the way, nuances of brioche, nuts, and ripe fruits develop.

At the same time, the fresh acidity—one of the defining characteristics of the 2008 vintage—is preserved. This combination results in a champagne that offers both maturity and vibrant energy.

Cuvée Louise 2008 can be enjoyed now but also has interesting potential for further development with proper storage.

A gastronomic champagne for special moments

Pommery Cuvée Louise 2008 is an obvious choice for life’s special occasions. Its elegant style makes it excellent as an aperitif, but the champagne also offers great gastronomic versatility.

Try it with oysters, scallops, lobster, or delicate fish dishes. It also pairs beautifully with light poultry and elegant dishes featuring creamy sauces.

The champagne’s mineral freshness highlights the natural flavors of the ingredients. At the same time, the fine mousse provides a pleasant and refined mouthfeel.

Serve the champagne at 10–12 degrees in a spacious champagne glass. This allows the complex aromas to unfold.

The History of Madame Louise Pommery

Champagne Pommery was founded in 1836 and is based in Reims, the heart of Champagne.

After her husband’s death in 1858, Madame Louise Pommery took over the management of the champagne house. She developed the business and became one of the most influential figures in the history of Champagne.

Louise Pommery was a visionary woman with a deep understanding of quality and international markets. In 1874, the house launched Pommery Nature, a groundbreaking champagne with a distinctly drier style.

She was also responsible for the development of Pommery’s impressive cellars in Reims. Today, these historic chalk cellars are an integral part of the champagne house’s identity.

Cuvée Louise is named after her and created as a tribute to her vision. The 2008 vintage carries on this legacy with elegance, precision, and great complexity.
