Braunstein Edition No. 2 is a powerful and uncompromising Danish single malt whisky, created for the discerning whisky connoisseur looking for intensity, character and true craftsmanship. This is a cask strength whisky bottled directly from bourbon casks – a rare bottling with only 300 bottles produced. A true limited edition whisky from Denmark that combines Nordic precision with raw strength and elegance.

This exclusive single malt was distilled in 2007 and aged for 3 years in a 190 liter American oak cask that previously held bourbon. The combination of peat-smoked malt, slow maturation and the maritime climate of Køge Harbor creates a complex and deep whisky experience that stands out among Danish whiskies.

Distillation is done only once on the distillery’s combined column and pot still apparatus. The result is an exceptionally clean and aromatic distillate with distinct nuances of malt, fruit and subtle smoke. The newly distilled spirit is gently diluted with spring water to optimum cask strength before being filled into the bourbon barrel where the magic begins.

During aging, the whisky develops an intense and rich character. The bourbon cask notes of vanilla, dark chocolate and dried fruit meld with the peat-smoked malt to create a distinctive yet balanced whole. The alcohol is strong but integrated – and with time in the glass, the whisky opens up beautifully to reveal its many layers.
