Château d’Yquem Sauternes 2006

The 2006 vintage is both intense and elegant with an impressive balance between sweetness, freshness and structure. The grapes – primarily Sémillon with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc – are harvested in several rounds, selecting only the perfectly ripe grapes. The wine is then aged for approximately 3½ years in 100% new oak barrels, adding an extra dimension of depth, finesse and complexity.

This is a wine that can be enjoyed now with great pleasure, but also has enormous ageing potential and will develop for up to 75 years. An investment in both flavor and the evolution of the wine over time.

Tasting notes

Extremely complex and aromatic with notes of tropical fruits, lemon, mandarin and warm oranges. In addition, nuances of apple pie, mirabelle plums and flowers merge with honey, ginger, caramel and a hint of vanilla and nuts from the barrel aging. The palate is rich, round and silky with a perfectly balanced sweetness and an incredibly long, lingering finish.
