Clyde May’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey 46%

Clyde May’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey 46% is an authentic American bourbon with a strong history and plenty of character. With the slogan “Distilled since 1946. Legal since 2001”, you get a whiskey where tradition and craftsmanship go hand in hand. It’s a full-bodied and well-balanced bourbon that delivers both depth and elegance in the glass.

This bourbon is distilled in a classic copper pot still and aged in new American 53 gallon oak barrels for a minimum of 4.5 years. It is non-chill filtered, which means all the natural oils and flavors are retained. The result is a more intense and authentic flavor experience with a nice richness.

The aroma is soft and sweet with notes of brown sugar, baked apricot, strawberry and a hint of nutmeg. The taste is round and complex with distinct notes of oak spice, fruit and an elegant touch of oiled leather. The finish is warm and persistent with a fine balance of sweetness and spice.

Clyde May’s Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a great choice for both new and experienced whiskey lovers. It can be enjoyed neat, with a little water or over ice. It also works perfectly in classic cocktails where its character shines through.

History of the house

Clyde May was born in 1922 and was a soldier in the Army’s 77th Infantry Division during WW2. World War II, where he was wounded. In 1946, he began distilling whiskey in Alabama, where his moonshine quickly became popular. However, production was not always legal and in 1973 he was imprisoned for 8 months. After his release, he immediately resumed his work. In 2001, Clyde May’s became the first whiskey brand in the United States to be named the Official State Spirit of Alabama™. Today, the legacy lives on with a focus on quality, history and true American whiskey tradition.
