Compass Box Ethereal is a rare and exclusive Scotch blended malt whisky, created in 2021 as a tribute to La Maison du Whisky’s 65th anniversary. A luxurious and deeply harmonious whisky experience from one of Scotland’s most creative and uncompromising blenders – Compass Box – bottled at a powerful 49% alcohol and without chill filtration for maximum body and aromatic intensity.

The blend is composed of exquisite malts from Old Pulteney, Caol Ila, Miltonduff and Ardbeg – a mix that elegantly balances coastal freshness, soft fruit, smoke and deep complexity. The whisky is aged between 17 and 26 years in reheated and refilled American oak casks and hogsheads, giving a refined cask influence with vanilla, spice and a silky smooth texture, without overpowering the distillates personality.

The name “Ethereal” is a beautiful reference to Compass Box’s very first blended malt, Eleuthera – and this edition lives up to its name: light, elegant and almost floating in its structure, but still with an intense and lasting depth. Only 2,430 bottles have been released in total, making Ethereal a great choice for collectors, enthusiasts and anyone who loves special bottlings with history and character.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Soft vanilla and ripe fruit with a maritime freshness, light citrus and a subtle smoke in the background. There are also hints of honey, dried fruit and a touch of spicy oak.

Taste: Silky and complex with layers of pear, apple, creamy caramel and vanilla from American oak. Caol Ila and Ardbeg contribute elegant, dry smoke and minerality, while Miltonduff provides a round fruitiness and Old Pulteney adds a salty, coastal lift.

Finish: Long and balanced with warm spices, light smoke, vanilla and a lingering freshness that lingers on the palate.
