The Rancio style is created through a special aging method where the wine is first matured in glass balloons under the open sky. Here it is exposed to the heat of the sun and the effects of oxygen, giving the wine a unique oxidative character and deep aromatic complexity. After this process, the wine is further aged in cognac barrels, where it develops even greater depth, warmth and elegance.

The story of Frederiksdal

Frederiksdal Estate on Lolland is the world’s first producer to specialize in wine made exclusively from Stevnsbær. The cherries are grown in historic plantations around the estate, where the climate and soil provide optimal conditions for intense fruit and beautiful acidity.

Production combines classic winemaking methods with innovative techniques such as sun-ripening in glass balloons. The result is wines of great complexity and international recognition. Frederiksdal Rancio is one of the house’s most iconic products and shows how far Danish wine can go.
