This is true Danish craftsmanship. The whisky is made from barley grown a few kilometers from the distillery and with water from local springs. Maturation takes place in white oak casks, bringing out the sweetness, complexity and light smoke. The result is a welcoming yet characterful smoky whisky that shows how elegant Danish whisky can be.

The smoke is deliberately kept on the mild side, giving finesse rather than raw power. This makes this peated single malt a great introduction to smoked whisky – but also an exciting choice for the experienced whisky lover looking for balance and nuance.

Tasting notes

Aroma: Light to medium smoke with sweet notes of Finnish licorice, sea salt and gentle campfire smoke.

Taste: Sweet smoke and licorice meld with spicy nuances and ripe fruit. Round, balanced and pleasantly alluring.

Finish: Long and creamy with light smoke, warm spices and a subtle hint of sea.

The history of the house

Nyborg Destilleri is housed in a historic railroad workshop by the port of Nyborg, where freight trains were repaired for more than 125 years. Today, the buildings have been transformed into a modern, organic distillery with a focus on quality, sustainability and curiosity.

The philosophy is simple: the most beautiful whisky has yet to be created. The barley is grown locally on Funen, and many of the casks are made from 150-200 year old oak trees. This gives the whisky a clear local anchorage and a character that cannot be copied.
